Letter from Jonathan
athenahealth is unique in its ability to provide our clients with intuitive software, superb service and a robust network of intelligence about payers. With the data we store on behalf of our clients, we have visibility into payer performance metrics such as: days in AR, denial trends, and first pass pay rate, etc. Armed with this data, we conduct an annual project called athenahealth PayerViewSM in which we rank payers on seven metrics to determine how easy it is to work with them. Since our first PayerView Rankings two years ago, we’ve worked with some payers to help identify denial trends and improve their overall workflow–with the ultimate goal to improve their relationship with providers. Now in its third year, PayerView is helping to define our relationship with payers. This issue of the Pulse is dedicated to the PayerView initiative. Enjoy this issue and visit www.athenapayerview.com for more information.

athenista Spotlight: Meet Michael Yun
This month’s athenista Spotlight is Michael Yun, a member of the athenahealth Process Innovation team. He began his health care journey at a young age by helping his father at his Indiana-based primary care practice where he was always thinking about how to improve the practice. Now, Michael creates and tests new functionality in athenaNet and also reports and analyzes the data behind our annual PayerView Rankings.
